Day 1. Started Chantix Today and here is what happened ...

Introducing - PermaQuit Method to quit smoking

Day 1 on Chantix
I started my prescription today. The starter pack comes in a green box. It is recommended to only have one tablet a day (0.5 mgs) for the first 3 days and then start taking 2 (0.5mg) tablets and so on. The reason for doing this is so that this medicine can build up in your body by the time you quit smoking. It was recommended that I quit smoking on the 8th day of taking this medication. So I decided that I will quit smoking on the 11th of March 2009.

So I had my breakfast, took the pill, went and enrolled myself into get-quit program and was all set. Since I had read some very strange reviews of Chantix I was feeling strange for the first few hours, but then I figured out that it was psychological, not physical and I was fine after that. I drank a lot of water during the day and was there were no symptoms of any side effect mentioned above. I kept wondering if I will get insomnia at night so I stayed up a little later than usual and went to bed. It did take me around 10 minutes to fall asleep, usually I m out in 5 or so, but I slept well, woke up fresh, no issues at all.

The only thing that had changed was the fact that I really stopped enjoying smoking for day one. Cigarette didn't taste that good and no matter how many I smoked, it didn't look like I had even smoked. Very strange, but I know that how this medicine works, so I am good.

There was no side effect on day one whatsoever. So we need to see how things work on the 4th day, as the doze would be doubled to 2 (0.5 mg) tablets in a day.

Additionally Chantix started working on the first day by blocking nicotine receptors.

So far everything looks promising, but I we are not sure what to expect on the following days, so visit Day 2 on Chantix to Quit Smoking Cigarettes
